GPT Innovate: Craft a Custom Organizational GPT (COG)

Date: September 12, 2024

Time: 09:00 – 16:30

Location: StoryLab, Hang Dong, Chiang Mai

Target Participants: Mid-level professionals working in community based organizations in Northern Thailand.

We are pleased to invite partner organizations to nominate participants for our Custom Organizational GPT (COG) workshop, a one-day learning journey designed to equip staff with AI tools that can significantly enhance their content creation processes. This pilot workshop will focus on creating a version of Chat GPT which is trained in your organizational operations. This COG is contained within the account owned by participants will not be publicly accessible.

Workshop Objectives

Participants will:

  • Create a Custom GPT: Build an AI tool that can assist in generating reports, social media posts, and proposals—significantly improving their English fluency and written communication. Your COG will generate materials and respond to queries using your organizational documents, and it will interact with users based on instructions which we will create to train the GPT during this learning journey.
  • Explore New Ideas: Learn how the GPT can quickly generate multiple versions of documents, allowing participants to experiment with new approaches to content creation. Participants will experience first hand how we can work collaboratively using AI to facilitate our engagement.
  • Maintain Authorship and Critical Oversight: Understand that while the GPT assists in generating content, it cannot “think” for the user. The participants will learn how to maintain authorship by driving the core ideas behind the generated content and critically evaluating the GPT’s outputs to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Empowering Non-Native English Speakers

The COG will assist in refining the language of the content, ensuring that outputs are professional and well-structured. This will enable participants to produce higher-quality content with ease, improving both their efficiency and confidence in English communication.

Why Custom Organizational GPT (COG) Matters

The COG will be a powerful tool, allowing organizations to:

  • Enhance Language Quality: Produce polished content in English, even for non-native speakers, helping to communicate more effectively with stakeholders.
  • Explore New Ways of Working: By generating multiple versions of documents, participants can quickly explore alternative approaches and ideas, leading to more creative and impactful outputs.
  • Stay in Control: A key takeaway from the workshop will be understanding that the GPT is not a replacement for critical thinking. Participants will learn that GPTs may produce erroneous or fictitious information and must be critically evaluated. They will leave the workshop with the skills to maintain authorship by commanding the ideas that shape the final outputs.

Who Should Attend

We are seeking three mid-level professionals who have English proficiency and are in roles that involve generating content such as proposals, social media posts, reports, training materials, etc. Participants will need to bring institutional documents, such as proposals, meeting minutes, newsletters, and promotional materials. Sensitive personal data should not be included.

Workshop Requirements

  • ChatGPT Plus Account: Each participant must have a paid ChatGPT Plus account, as the workshop will utilize advanced features. (Cost is $20 USD per month with no annual subscription required.)
  • Data Privacy: Organizational data will remain in the participants’ personal accounts, and StoryLab will not retain copies. All participants must agree not to retain or share data from other participants after the workshop.

The StoryLab Experience

The StoryLab in Hang Dong provides a serene, distraction-free space designed for creative learning. The workshop will run from 09:00 to 16:30, with all meals provided on-site. Participants will have access to cutting-edge technology and a collaborative learning environment.

Post-Workshop Engagement

This workshop is not just a one-day experience but the beginning of a professional network. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with peers from other organizations, forming a professional community that can continue to share insights and collaborate long after the workshop ends.

Community Partner Participation

As a partner, your organization will be recognized in our promotional materials and social media posts as a Community Partner. We kindly request your permission to use your organization’s name and visual identity in these promotions.
