The StoryLab is a space designed for helping people develop digital literacy skills. We run intensive workshops for small groups engaged in the creation of some authentic digital products. We empower people by giving them tools and space to share their stories. We work with a broad range of digital media and tools and we welcome staff from diverse backgrounds. We expect staff to work hard because they are motivated by the work they do, and we require that members of the team are strongly committed to lifelong learning. Digital Media Apprentice
We are seeking a Digital Media Apprentice available to begin immediately. The individual should have a strong interest in learning how to use digital media and technology to tell engaging stories. Intensive training will be provided on an ongoing basis and the successful applicant would be expected to take up a leading role in some area of operation including:
- All phases of digital media production, including, planning media productions, capturing media, editing media. (Products may range across a variety of media and genres.)
- Information and data management including the design of databases supporting operations and large banks of media.
- Website and graphic design.
- Maintaining a social media presence.
Staff at the StoryLab are trained to work alongside those people we train to undertake real projects on behalf of the client. We offer intensive workshops that result in productions that tell our clients stories. All staff must be comfortable working with individuals from a diverse background
Working Hours
Normal working hours are 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, when engaged in projects you may be required to work early or late depended upon the specific needs of that production. Some travel within northern Thailand is required. Our productions can take place in remote regions and applicants should be comfortable traveling in the rural areas in the mountains or along the border.
Required Skills
Language / communication:
Successful applicants must be excellent communicators. Proficiency in both English and Thai languages is required. It would be beneficial if the person belongs to an ethnic group and can speak their native language. Staff are expected to improve their communication skills on an ongoing basis. We welcome applicants with the ability to communicate effectively with any type of media.
Technology:
Basic IT skills are necessary, such as Google Workspace. Digital media skills or data management application proficiency is preferred (Final Cut, Premier, sound editing, photography, conceptualization, database management, WordPress, etc.). We provide training to staff in various technology skills.
Characteristics:
Must have a keen interest in self-improvement and be able to successfully self-learn. Learn technology and hone skills until achieving proficiency, and be willing to share their learning with the team.
Most media production and training activities are based in Chiang Mai province. We participate in production across the northern region of Thailand, often requiring travel to remote villages. Individuals who are willing to work outside the office, often in culturally diverse environments, and collaborate with locals are preferred.

Salary
Starting salary is 10,500 baht per month for the first three months of probation. Upon successful completion, there is room for negotiation for a new salary.
